Transcription: This is the Taung locality as it looks today after several decades of limestone quarrying. Tauong means the place of the lion. From here comes a small fossil skull that in 1924 led Raymond Dart to discover the existence of the Australopithecines. The famous juvenile skull consists of facial bones and a precious endocast faithfully reproducing the brain's form.
